Smoothie Staples & Recipes!

Avocado/green smoothie bowl!

I am LOVING all of the interest and feedback on my smoothies and smoothie bowls! They are so so easy, and I gave a quick rundown of smoothies a few weeks ago, but wanted to put together some more details in response to your feedback.  I have compiled a list of fridge, freezer and pantry staples for you, as well of a few of my favorite smoothie recipes πŸ˜‰
*if you want to get fancy, check out the starred items

Fridge Staples:
– spinach! (or kale)
– almond milk! (or your choice of milk)
– orange juice (fresh is preferred! or just buy a no added sugar one)
– yogurt (some of my faves are: So Delicious, Siggi’s, Fage, Green Mountain Creamery)
– fresh berries (whatever is in season!)
– carrots or other seasonal veggies
*avocado, cooked beets, fresh figs, kiwi, other seasonal fruits

Freezer Staples:
– bananas! (wait until they ripen, peel, halve and freeze in ziplock bags)
– mixed berries
*pineapple, mango

Pantry Staples: (aka toppings!)
– chia!
– raw shredded coconut (can buy prepared & packaged)
– raw, unroasted almonds (or raw nuts of choice!)
– oats or granola
*raw cacao powder, cinnamon, dates, pepitas (other seeds), matcha powder, cacao nibs

Mean Green Smoothie:

Green Smoothie!

– 1/2 frozen banana
– large handful of spinach/kale
– 1/4 cup OJ
– 1/4 cup almond milk
– a few frozen mango/pineapple pieces
Blend! Then top with: chia, almonds, granola, and fresh berries!

 

 

Avocado Cacao Smoothie:

Avocado Cacao Smoothie!

  – 1/2 frozen banana
– handful spinach
– 1/2 cup vanilla or plain yogurt
– 1/2 avocado
– 2 tsp cacao powder
Blend! Then top with coconut, more cacao, and nuts or berries!

 

 

Power C Smoothie:

Vitamin C Orange Smoothie!

  – 1/2 frozen banana
– 1 chopped carrot
– 1/4 cup OJ
– 1/4 cup almond milk
– handful of mango/pineapple chunks
Blend! Then top with persimmon or orange slices!

 

Beet Smoothie:

img_1436  – 4 small cooked beets (I tend to favor lovebeets!)
– baby kale
– splash of OJ
– 1/2 cup yogurt
Blend! Then top with sliced kiwi, raspberries, chia, and almonds!
